“FENIX – GIVING PACKAGING A NEW LIFE” IN THE MEDIA!

26 Mayo 2010 (Todo el día)
Since the start of the European project “FENIX – Giving Packaging a New Life” in January 2010, the project has been publicized in several national and international media outlets. The kick-off meeting that took place in February 2010 was disseminated to over 100 media contacts from Spain, Portugal and the rest of Europe. As a result of this dissemination process, articles were published in several magazines such as the Correido do Minho (Portugal),  Gremi de Recuperació de Catalunya (Spain), and the LIFE+ Programme website from the European Commission.

The articles can be read via the following links:

As part of the Communication and Dissemination Strategy of the FENIX project, several press releases will be published over the next 3 years informing on the evolution of and project results at the national and international level. The next press release will be published as soon as the project website is officially launched.

Partially financed by the European Commission LIFE+ programme, the FENIX project aims at developing a software tool to assist Spanish and Portuguese municipalities in the decision-making for packaging waste management from a life cycle perspective, integrating environmental, economic and social aspects. The tool will allow the different users to introduce and modify parameters (km travelled, choice between different collection and treatment options, plant efficiency, etc.) to adapt the models created in the tool to the real-life situation. With the aim of promoting more sustainable packaging waste management and minimizing environmental impact, the tool will aid in creating more sustainable collection systems adapted to the different situations of today’s European societies, fostering both sustainable development and the protection of our environment.
